Safety/Field Report: Noel Miller

• A couple of our club rules were reviewed.
  • Don’t fly behind the flight line. The fence along the east/west runway is the flight line. The north/south runway is where the drone course is set up.
  • Your FAA number should be visible on the outside of your aircraft. The AMA suggest that you have your AMA number, name and phone number in your airplane.
  • When arming your electric aircraft or starting a glow/gas aircraft point the aircraft towards the flight line. If the aircraft gets away from the pilot it would be heading for the fence instead of the pits or parking lot. 
• Mole update. 3 moles have been caught so far. There will be a white stake wherever the mole trap is placed.
• The edges of the runway and taxiways were weed whipped and sprayed with weed killer.
• The first aid kit is under the charging table in a clear plastic bin.

  • Drone races are scheduled for September 7th, 22nd and October 5th at 11am-3pm
  • Black Friday Indoor Fly at Zeeland Christian School, November 29th, 9:30am-1:30pm

Safety/Field Report – Noel Miller

• TCAF and AMA rules were posted on the charging table bulletin board.
• The First Aid supply box has been updated with two different size tourniquets.  
• A few of the TCAF rules were reviewed
• AMA intro flight program was reviewed. An Intro Flight pilot can fly with a non AMA student for up to 90 days with the proper forms filled out and submitted to the AMA.

• Dave Jamrog talked to Phil and Emily about renewing out lease agreement. They wanted to hold off talks until after Rust-n-Dust.  

New Business

• Ace Hardware in Dorr donated a new grill to TCAF. We will have a sign made for the front of the grill and thank Ace Hardware of Dorr on our Facebook page.

• Membership report. We started and ended 2023 with 74 members. There were 11 members from 2022 that did not renew their membership and there were 9 new adult members and 2 new youth members for 2023.

Safety Report/Field Maintenance: – Steve Kastens

• An update was given on the runway expansion project. When we get closer to spring, we will be asking for help to cut pieces off the large roll of geotex for each end of the runway and the new taxiways.  This will make the geotex more manageable to hand when installing it at the field.
• When we install the runway expansion pieces, we will also install the additional flight line fence like what is currently between the two existing taxiways. 
• Once the new geotex pieces are installed we will tape the new seams and replace the tape that has come off the existing runway seams.

• Field Lease. We are in the last year of our field lease. Dave Jamrog will be contacting the landowners about starting conversations about renewing our lease.
• There was a discussion about an increase in the club dues starting in 2025. There was a consensus from the members present that a dues increase would need to be justified by increased expenses.
• The 2024 budget was reviewed. There was some discussion then a motion was made, seconded and the 2024 budget was approved by member vote.

Announcements and Upcoming Events: – John Russcher

• Events for 2024 were reviewed. Dates will be set in the next month or so. We will have all the same events that we did in 2023 with the addition of a Fun Fly event hosted by Rob Wetterholt Jr. Steamer combat events will be moving from Wednesdays to Mondays.  
• The new slightly modified club logo was shown. The old logo had the words Holland, Michigan on the bottom and the words R/C above the airplane. The new logo has the words AMA R/C Club 1403 at the bottom and the word R/C above the airplane was removed. 
• A banner to promote our club was purchased. It will be hung up at club events and community events that we attend.

Safety Report/Field Maintenance: Steve Kastens 

• A new sign will be put up on the board on the south end of the charging table with emergency 911 instructions, AMA rules and Club rules. 
• The additional fence sections have not been installed yet because the ground has been too hard for digging holes with a power auger.   
• The box that the first aid kit is stored in was broken and has been replaced with a new box.

• Runway expansion. The runway expansion will extend the runway by 40’ on each end making the total length of the runway about 360’. The two existing taxiways will be extended by 10’ into the pits and there will be two new 25’ taxiways added about 40’ to the east and west of the existing taxiways. The budget for this project is $2,000 and will come out of the field fund. After some discussion a motion was made, seconded and the runway expansion project was approved by member vote.
